ジャーナリストのｽﾍﾞﾝﾄﾞﾘﾆさんは、スリランカ
出身で、1977年に来日。

Ｉ've been in Japan for about 20-odd
years,and things have changed.
When I came first,Japan was really
viewed as a rich country,a very peaceful
country,and the leader in Asia,but during
the last two decades,that position
has changed.
(かれこれ20年余り日本にいるが、色々
変わった。最初に来たとき日本は豊か
な国、とても平和でアジアのリーダー
と見られていたが、立ち位置は変わった）

バブルの頃からご存じなのでしょうね。
失われた30年😭をずっと
見てこられたのでしょう。
スリランカは、1983～2009まで
内戦が続き、10万人もの命が
奪われたのですが、内戦直後その頃
日本は右肩上がりですね↗
私はろくに勉強もせず、もらった
給料は服や遊ぶお金に消えました😫

And the way I do that is to talk to
different people-people at the top
in powerful positions as well as
people on the street.
So I try to portray Japan through
different voices.
Of cource,there is some media that
will probably just take one aspect
like,you know,some uniqueness or
something strange in Japan and
try to portray that aspect mainly.
But then,that is not the reality in
Japan , I belive.

権力のある地位に就くトップの人たち
はもちろん、一般の人たちと話をすること。
様々な声を通して日本を描写するように
努めている。
もちろん日本独自のことや何か変わった
ことなど、恐らくある側面一つだけを
取り上げて、その面を主に描写しよう
とするメディアもある。
ですが、それは日本の現実ではないと、
私は思っている）

日本という他国に来て、
メディアの伝え方に”これちょっと
違うんじゃない？”と思う彼女。
深く理解していなければ、感じること
もできないです。
すごい人ですね。
