ｹｲﾄ･ｴﾙｳﾞｯﾄﾞさんの子育て本に登場した、
「The Carrot seed」借りてきました。

男の子がにんじんのたねを植えたのだけど、
ママやパパや兄は皆、
「芽なんかでないよ」と。
毎日男の子は周りの草をとり水をかけた。
でもなにも出ない。
するとある日、
にんじんの芽が出て、
男の子が思ってたとおりになった。
というシンプルなお話。

私も、子供達に「そんなのできっこ
ないよ」と言った記憶が何度か
あります。
やってみなければわからないのに。
私自身、親にあなたは雑だから、
この職業は無理。とかありました。

Ｈis mother said,"I'm afraid
it won't come up"
Every day the little boy pulled up
the weeds around the seed and
sprinkled the ground with water.
But nothing came up.
Everyone kept saying it would'nt
came up.
He still pulled up the weeds around
it every day and sprinkled the ground
with water.
And then, one day,
a carrot came up.
just as the little boy had known
it would.
